'Death World'. They were good. Haven't read Ice Guard yet, but the one with Tallarn desert guard was awesome. Still ploughing on with the short stories..

Because I only read on the train. Train journeys can be disruptful, and mesmerizing (sp?). Actually the short story I'm reading now suddenly became pretty engrossing. Go Raven Guard, Woooooooo!!!

Give it a read, you never know - a book about skaven might get you back into painting / assembling more skaven.

Actually i only have the 5 plague monks left to assemble, i have almost no money and lastly i need paints for skaven. Without one or two paints (they dried up) i can't really paint my models. Besides it takes me forever and they end up looking average at best. I dunno i just hate painting. If i could i'd play a game of warhammer about once a day almost every day. Such an expensive hobby though. It'll take so much money just to get my skaven army of death going. Not only that but there's other hobby things i've been looking forward too. My interest in skaven is waning somewhat if only because they usually lack high killy armies and go for drown the enemy in numbers and you know actual strategy unlike high elves, empire and daemons. Dark elves are kind of cool (like high elves except not as lame and stupid looking and evil as are some other armies i suppose. I think dark eldar will be my next army but there's just so much shit coming and it's all so good looking. You ever get that feeling when you see one or two units that look like utter bad asses or something that just looks really nice and you want to buy it just to paint it and showcase it. I feel that was about possessed marines, possibly obliterators, blood knights, deathmarks, striking scorpions, dire avengers, dark reapers, most dark eldar, sanguinary guard (yes i know the golden nipples), sternguard, vampire count on zombie dragon and possibly a few others. What gets me though is that even though GW releases new beautiful models as a showcase to how good they're becoming they tend to release something stupid and ugly in recent times to show they aren't without their flaws and abortions of art.

I like the new retinue command alien models in the DE range, but have to buy way too much guard stuff at the moment. All I ever buy is SM or IG. SM is what got me back into the hobby when I was finishing university.

I know how you feel i really would like to get 2-3 armies. I stopped liking blood angels and i don't really like grey knights as much as i did with the re-release. However necrons are now becoming a bit interesting. I suppose i can understand codex jumpers not for getting overpowered new codexes so much that everything is so new and cool and shiny and you have to buy it. It just has that thrill of something different. Of course there's always some bitching involved. They'll most likely never bring back chem-inhalers and such. Too bad but i can deal with it. The only thing i wish for is perhaps an assault cannon turrets and plasma cannon heavy weapons. Only the plasma cannon turrets would seem necessary to me. Also we need mole launchers just cause. Btw was i the only one the found the addition of so many vehicles to be overwhelming? I could deal with 4 tanks instead of 7 and get rid of a couple artillery pieces or something. I don't know i just feel the punisher, exterminator, possibly eradicator and maybe even the vanquisher aren't worth it. Also if you look at the guard and compare it with the new armies like dark eldar and the new necrons you will see a severe lack of power weapon wielding forces or ways to get around power armor and terminator armor. It's a bit ridiculous and surprising. Guard however just have like 10 things or more to handle armored soldiers. The only problem i find is no real way to handle enemies that spread out way too far. I suppose you can give it up to them having sucky melee and that'd be fair but still i don't see dark eldar with too much damage soaking power and they lack plenty of good ways to handle armored infantry. Meh i just don't know.

Armoured infantry, as in Marines?
I suppose a small veteran(?) squad in a venom, with splinter cannons could do some damage to 3+ infantry. They aren't all that really.. 30 Orks with shootaz are much more worrying than a tac squad.
Also DE and the new necron transports are open topped, so why both even getting out? Just shoot on the open topped platform. The necrons are a bit worrying.. :/

I don't see how the new necrons are a bit worrying. If it's something that bothers me is dark eldar lack templates a bit or at least i think so. They have them in the form of some skimmers but for the most part no. They do have the withering hail of fire though that allows them to shoot and then just fly away. Against dark eldar and maybe necrons decent guns would scare me a bit. Honestly i have trouble thinking of what to do against guard except neutralizing the heavy weapons and maybe tanks or veteran squads. I'd probably also let loose with my combat squads since most guard have no chance against that and i'd assault multiple squads at once if possible. I'm not too afraid of orks since i'd just gun them to death. Not to mention BS 2 orks are pathetic. They'll miss most of their shots anyway and they always do. Even in the case of lootas they usually miss most of their shots and their shooting is so random. Don't get me wrong because i've seen a big mek with shokk attack gun take out 3 chaos heroes including abaddon with the same blast. I think we'll all admit most people had a mini-orgasm at that moment. It was in a hero game but still.

The new necron transport is a very worrying prospect; all those gauss shots every turn.
On another note:
Corax lives! (next short story plz)

Yeah but i think the necron transport costs twice as much as a rhino i hear. Not sure if it's worth all that.

Man, I just finished the Dan Abnett short story about Little Horus Aximand, and it was jaw-dropping. I hate the Lunar Wolves, though. I was rooting for the Imperials..
Edit - Sons of Horus, sorry. The traitors!

Anyway as my next short story proves, there is always an exception.
Iron warriors loyal to the emperor, in an impregnable fortress VS their own brethren with some Sons of Horus liason scumbag, who are obviously traitors.
Go loyalist Iron warriors!

So iron warriors were originally loyalist too? Man this is sad. I felt really bad about thousand sons trying to do the right thing but they hurt people in the process and were fucked over thanks to horus. That should be spelled 'whore us' because that's what he was to me. He was such a dick. Anyway in my eyes thousand sons aren't too bad for a bunch of empty armor with souls of chaos space marines imbued to it.

It's a real shame, the heresy in general...
I just finished Matthew Reily's new book: Scarecrow and the Army of Theives.
Beautiful.

They were all loyalists before Horus got made into 'the Warmaster'. That's when 1/2 of them turn traitor.
