So.. Which 40k fictional world would you choose to live on, if you could be transported into a parallel 40k style universe?
You can choose GW fluff worlds, your own created worlds or anything you choose. Maybe explain a little about the world, as well.
I'll get the ball rolling.
Type - (Toxic) desert world Name - Stadarzki Location - Ultima Segmentum, Prandius Sector, Katallus Subsector Population - 2.1 billion
Stadarzki is a vital population centre in the Katallus subsector, as the planet's gravity is most similar to the Terran standard. Despite the planet's toxic nature, major Hive Dome Cities contain most of the planet's population and several nomadic ash waste tribes exist also, living out their harsh lives in the desert rad waste.
The Adeptus Mechanicus also maintain 2 space ports and several mining facilities, as there are valueable resources on the planet that they need.
Stadarzki troops are often raised and sent to warfronts all across the Ultima segmentum and beyond, often fighting orks, tau or chaos insurgents.

I wouldn't mind living somewhere in ultramar, actually...
Now I know there are going to be thoughts of 'SMURFS?!!?!?11!?!!1!', but it is one of the best run places in the Imperium.

I quite like Ultras, but then I like word bearers too :s
Yeah I'd much rather be under the protection of Ultras; there's no telling what word bearers would do to you, they're the sickest bastards in 40k..

Well a little bit, but it's usually the sound people make when they arrive here. Only the nimble, the insane and the ones with bolters usually pass the random reaver attacks..

Holy shit somebody actually mentioned me without being here. Umm if i had a world to choose it would be something along the lines of looking like vostroya but possibly also along the lines of the elysian drop troops. So basically think a polluted world with rebreathers on drop troops with those anti-grav packs on their back. Maybe a bit of anti-pirate raiding so a fairly fast scouting army. Something which is a bit take all comers though but if i'd have to say more on the ends of vehicles, fast movement and somewhat elite troops with decent armor. That's the world i'd live on. A radioactive atmosphere would be ok as long as it doesn't mess with the population and make everybody sterile . What are you gonna do though? Strangely my list is take all comers and has plenty of vets and some tanks but a little bit of infantry. Yeah i need a way to strike more directly through deepstriking kasrkin and maybe some other stuff. Would probably get some sentinels but they cost way too much money and vendettas sound more fun for outflanking vehicle kills. cheminhaler and walrus: Ok the two of them can battle with straken. Have fun.

Remember also his strength should be high enough to instant kill most models with 'instant death'. Several attacks on one guy and several on the other. He should have superior WS and he's strong enough to wound on 2's while going through armor. I hope you have a refractor field cuz he does . I used to use him to pop some tanks btw.

All CCs have a refractor field, so does my primaris for big games. The only thing I'd try to take him on with is Guardsman Obarm/ Marbo, who would chuck a demo charge at him, or my secret hidden demo charge SW squad.. (P.s - I have the marbo model in metal. All I need is one of those plastic gasmasks for him...)

I probably wouldn't throw straken at you but who knows. The only thing that bugs me about straken is he's fairly melee oriented but he'd get so owned in serious melee and while he's in melee you can't use orders. I once basically held up an avatar for several turns with him though against some super opponent. Funny how bodyguard die for him and he's fearless so they just stick in combat .

I even killed a wounded avatar once by sending an entire platoon of chem troopers to get him. In the end the platoon commander's chainsword made the difference. (This being the time when you could take lasguns on sgts too..)
Straken is supposed to be super for infantry heavy armies (like mine), but I think I'm using enough SCs with Marbo alone.. But I'm planning Kamir in a squad of rough riders, because his rules are supreme. It'll be a loooong time before I get to 7.5k, though.....

I don't know what to think about kamir. I think he boosted the rough riders he was with and sounded ok. Problem is rough riders sound like a one use hit or miss unit. If they don't do what you need when you need it they fail and it feels like such a waste for the money you put into it. However ogryns are still the biggest waste of money and possibly points in the guard lists so far. They're not bad but power weapons would be appreciated or you know something. It's not like i'm asking for a toughness 4, +2 armor save, +3 inv. save, thunder hammer wielding jack off for really cheap points. I honestly think power weapons would be fairly legitimate for ogryns. They only have furious charge anyway and initiative 2 and str 5 most of the time. In fact the toughness 5 and 3 wounds part is really their only boost and unless you attack a commissar lord or yarrick to them they won't be worth it anyway.

I'm also having 2 squads of guard bikers, but they're experimental rules.
I love rough riders. In the past I've killed 10 striking scorpions with a charge by 10 rrs, some terminators and I've taken all the weapons off of Trickstick's demolisher (which was a major concern..), before they got tank-shocked and cooked by about 4 flamers into cooked horse meat...

cheminhaler: Well it's off to the glue factory with them then. No sense in letting anything go to waste . Guard bikers may be cool. I thought it was funny the idea of segway rough riders. Maybe also guys that use actual bicycles in battle rather than motorcycles. I wonder if there's any negative modifiers due to enemies laughing their asses off.

There is no way you could hold a lance in one hand, a pistol in the other, and ride a segway..
|
|
|
Post by flamingkillamajig on Oct 14, 2011 17:32:51 GMT -5
I probably wouldn't use the pistols anyway. They're kind of shit considering the lances and the extra 'run' distance you get for not shooting with fleet of foot.
|
|
|
Post by cheminhaler on Oct 15, 2011 16:16:04 GMT -5
You still need them for after the lances are gone. What do you expect them to use? The segways as weapons? Segway shock!
|
|
|
Post by flamingkillamajig on Oct 15, 2011 17:01:09 GMT -5
Considering how much their pistols suck it would probably be more powerful. Make the segway electrified and then we can see how much damage it does. Btw there's something about people with safety shirts using segways and wearing helmets that strikes me as looking like retarded people.
At least i don't have to worry about mods on this board. Hehe that's a good thing in this case. People are so butt hurt over being offended these days.

It's a PC world. Hah! Like the computer shop!
No kidding, though. In the real world saying/doing offensive things can get you in trouble, or worse, depending on the circumstances. I mean, just imagine walking around in Iran with 'I love Israel' t-shirt, pantless and underpantless, whilst making offensive religious drawings...

You'd be stoned to death but this is not iran. The U.S. is very tolerant in comparison to countries like that who i find to be very pathetic in comparison. I think the U.S. controls most of the internet but it's funny how it's like international waters and also that your rights can be pretty easily taken away. At least nobody can be killed via the internet or at least not yet. Otherwise this would be the wild west.
