Tau win deployment roll, choose to go second
I deploy my Warriors in their Venoms near my objective, as close to the front as I can (they were all in cover). Malys, the Wyches, their Raider, the Ravager and both Jetbike packs are in reserve.
The Tau player deploys his Crisis suit with the Positional Relay, his Fire Warrior teams and his Railhead on his objective.
Due to Malys' ability, I get to redeploy two units, which I decide are the Ravager and one of the Reaver packs. They're placed as far forward as I can.
Tau player failed to Seize the Initiative.
Dark Eldar Turn 1:
In the movement phase, my Reavers turbo-boosted over one of his Fire Warrior squads, claiming a couple in the process, while my Ravager and Venoms dart forward 12".
In the shooting phase, my Ravager stuns his Railhead (despite his Disruption Pods), and my Venoms lay waste to his firebase with mass splinter cannon fire, reducing him down to half his original Fire Warrior complement. No action during assault phase.
Tau Turn 1:
In the movement phase, his Crisis suit moves out to shoot at my Ravager. When the shooting phase comes, he somehow manages to miss with both TL missile pods. His remaining Fire Warriors open up on my Reavers, killing a single biker.
Dark Eldar Turn 2:
Neither of my units in reserve (Malys and the other Reaver pack) come in, but that's not exactly necessary. My Venoms and Ravager press the attack further while my Reavers put themselves in a position to assault his Crisis suit.
In the shooting phase, I managed to stun his Railhead again, finished off one of his Fire Warrior squads and almost took out the other. My Reavers shoot at his Crisis suit, and only manage to knock off his Marker Drone. In the assault phase, my jetbikes charge his Crisis suit and his remaining two Fire Warriors. No one manages to wound anyone.
Tau Turn 2:
Somehow, against all odds, his Positional Relay fails to bring in his Pathfinders. At this, the Tau player promptly concedes. Victory for the forces of evil.
I must say, that list worked out so much better than I could have hoped for, and he did not see it coming. It was, in his words, "freakin' scary." He expected me to try to rush into his guns with Raider squads and mounted Wyches, and did not take into account that I can spam that many splinter cannons in a 1250-point list.
This list of mine deserves more in-depth experimentation, but it seems to do well enough against Tau, now for Guard and Space Marines...
