Like the "Heroic Deeds of our Men" thread on the IGMB, this is a thread for recounting the exploits of our raids; in particular, acts that go above and beyond the call of deviousness.
To start with, I have a couple I recently ran against Guard: The first was against a leafblower list at 1,000 points. Normally, I suck at 1000-point games, but I was able to put my Voidraven in a position to whack his column of armor (which had already shot down my Ravager, one of my jetbike squadrons and the Raider carrying my Wyches) fairly early on. Figuring that my Void Lances would be enough to take out a Chimera, I opened up on one near a dismounted Infantry squad (my lamented Jetbikers slagged it before going up in flames), and promptly missed with both of them. Furious (and a little desperate), I unloaded a Monoscythe missile at it, hoping that it would scatter onto the infantry.
It scattered, but not onto the infantry. It did, however, stay on the target Chimera and score a penetrating hit (I got side armor), followed by a Vehicle Explodes! result with a 6" range. Not only did that single Monoscythe claim a Chimera, but the explosion also knocked the turret off another one and took out a total of 11 Guardsmen (six from the squad inside, and 5 from the dismounted ones.
As for the other one, it was 1250 vs. aggressive gunline Guard, and he had a whole platoon moving towards one of his objectives (one of my jetbike squadrons met an untimely demise when trying to take out one of his squads with bladevanes and caltrops), and he had an SWS w/ 3 flamers moving in, which I knew for sure would cost me that objective, so I turbo-boosted over the flamer squad with my second Reaver pack, figuring that I could wipe them off the table in one pass, give them a pain token and hopefully survive to be a menace to his gunline for a few more turns.
Unfortunately, one of the flamer guys survived, and on his next turn hosed my Reavers with his flamer, claiming two. Apparently, he still saw them as a threat, as he then proceeded to waste half of his available firepower on the two remaining jetbikers (generally speaking, flashlight shots either missed or were negated by my turbo-boost save, while the solo krak grenade hits were the ones that eventually did them in). Still, that was a lot of shots that weren't being fired at my Warriors in cover. That still doesn't mean that I didn't lose that game 2-1.
